Lunar New Year 2021: What To Expect From The Year Of The Ox

Starting on February 12th 2021, the Chinese will begin a celebration period that lasts up to 16 days in honor of their most important holiday, the Lunar New Year. Each day of celebrations holds something special with the final day culminating in the most anticipated spectacle, the Lantern Festival.

Similar to astrology, there are 12 Animals in the Chinese Zodiac. However, instead of one per month there is one animal per lunar year.  This year, 2021 sees the return of the Year of the Ox, the second position in the Chinese Zodiac.

Contrary to what one might think, the year of a person’s birth sign is believed to be unlucky for them as it is the year that their sign, in this case the Ox, is looking out for all the other signs. It is when they are in charge. With that strength comes a lot of responsibilities some of which can be burdensome and others of which are beneficial.

What does it mean to be an Ox?

If you are an Ox, here is what you need to know. And for those lucky enough to have Oxen in your life, this offers insights into what this can mean for you.

Fortune: It may be important for Oxen to learn the importance of budgeting and money management early on; however, they will be able to enjoy a comfortable retirement.

Personality + Characteristics: Oxen are known for their dependability, strength, perseverance and diligence. They’re goal oriented hard-workers who make plans for every step of the way to get the job done. However, they never expect praise for their work.

Career Fit: Oxen like stable work places and environments. They often do best with long-term, steady jobs. These professions include doctors, lawyers, businessmen and teachers.

What does 2021 hold for the Ox?

Career: 2021 will be a great year for personal growth in the workplace. Make sure to take time to hone your skills. Proceed with caution with workplace relationships. Eventhough you’ll find it difficult to acheive any breakthroughs this year, your career prospects will remain stable.

Education: Oxen are very studious. However, this year appears to be even more difficult when it comes to studies with a multitude of decisions plaguing your stability (What to study? Thinking of transferring? Choosing an advisor?) Make sure to keep a level head and tread carefully. Your diligent attitude will help you to see this through.

Lifestyle: This year will start off on a low note. Do not let this discourage you or prevent you from any personal development. If you stay calm, keep your head down and persevere the way that Oxen are known to, your hard-work and determination will bring you out the other side. The wheel of fortune will turn in your favor soon enough.
