McAlpine: Romantic Modernism
This volume celebrates the recent work of McAlpine, an award-winning architectural and interior design firm known for blending modernism, classicism, and romanticism. Opening with Bobby McAlpine’s own newly designed home—a space that balances modern expression with classical order—the book showcases a diverse collection of residences.
From a white-on-white neoclassical pavilion in the Bahamas to a masonry dwelling in Virginia and a minimalist American country house in Tennessee, each project speaks directly to the heart. Drawing on architectural influences ranging from Elizabethan to colonial Caribbean, these designs are at once familiar, bold, and surprising. This collection reflects the complexity of the human experience through the beauty and poetry of the home.
