Brand
Founded in 2005 after Jonathan Hankar moved from Belgium to California, Be Home began with a simple vision: to replace a world of plastics with beautifully crafted, ethically made home goods. Inspired by the West Coast’s modern ease and his family’s creative heritage, Jonathan set out to bring organic elegance to everyday living.
Every Be Home piece begins in the hands of skilled artisans before finding its way into the home. Today, the brand designs each collection in Northern California and partners with family-owned and women-owned artisan studios around the world to handcraft small-batch pieces—each one unique, purposeful, and made to last.
Jonathan’s journey took a meaningful turn when he met Patricia Hankar during his travels and industry events. United by their love of eclectic tablescapes and exploration, they’ve worked together to shape Be Home’s mission: to create elegant, durable, practical products that elevate daily life. Their work is influenced by Jonathan’s grandparents’ passion for antiques and flea markets. Now certified as a Green Business, the company champions sustainability, mindful production, and the beauty of imperfection.
From timeless serving pieces to everyday essentials, Be Home creates goods that elevate the home while honoring the people and places behind them.
