At the heart of Saban Glass is Cheryl, a woman of many talents: author, philanthropist, psychologist, musician, designer, and social activist for gender equality. However, these days, she can most often be found holding a blowpipe in one hand, with a bowl of colorful fruit by her side, and a 2100 degree furnace aiding her efforts as she creates beautiful, spirited pieces made of glass.
The journey from Hot Shop to table is one of passion, skilled artisanship, and endless precision. Each unique piece is custom-made from clear molten glass. Pulled from the furnace at 2,130 Fahrenheit, color is added to the hot glass in the form of frit. The glass is then reheated and shaped until the form is just right. The cooling process distresses the glass and makes it durable, after which it is smoothed and polished to perfection.
Cheryl's vibrant and creative spirit flows through every step of the process, much like the molten glass she skillfully manipulates. The result: bold, hand-blown creations that are a true reflection of her colorful personality. Saban Glass shares in Cheryl's desire to bring a touch of color, and that vibrant essence, into people’s homes and onto their tables as a wonderful way to enhance their everyday lives.
