Conscientious Shifts: Conscious Luxury + Living Organically

At Grayson De Vere, we believe “Living Organically” (living with conscious awareness of materials and sources) is synonymous with living well. It’s the art of thoughtful curation and a practice that honors quality over quantity, intention over impulse.

For us, this isn’t about perfection — it’s about awareness: understanding how the materials we live with, wear, and use each day influence our health, our homes, and our planet.

It’s a philosophy rooted in choice: consciously choosing what truly supports you, and intentionally not choosing that which does not.

It’s about crafting a space that supports your health, nurtures comfort, and fosters connection, where each piece has meaning and contributes to overall wellbeing.

It’s not about being without. It’s about making conscious choices.

Organic Living doesn’t require replacing every item you own or following an impossible ideal. It begins with awareness — of where something comes from, how it’s made, and how it will live in your space and in your body.

When we consciously select natural materials — linen, cotton, hemp, wool, silk, clay, wood, and stone — we’re choosing materials that breathe with us, regulate temperature naturally, and support our wellbeing without releasing harmful chemicals.

These materials ground our spaces with texture and warmth, connect us to the earth’s rhythms, and age gracefully over time — revealing beauty that deepens rather than fades.

White spaces offer room to breathe. They give the eye a place to rest. And in a world that moves fast, that calm is the new luxury.

What we look for.

Each choice is an opportunity to welcome in beauty, integrity, and health — pieces that work in harmony with your body, your space, and the natural world. In doing so, we look for materials and methods that support both wellbeing and the environment.

  • Organic natural fibers are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, reducing chemical residue on the finished fabric and protecting the soil they come from.
  • Naturally dyed textiles avoid heavy-metal pigments and synthetic colorants, instead using plant-based or mineral dyes that develop a rich, natural patina and pose no risk to skin or air quality.
  • Minimal processing preserves the integrity of the material, allowing it to retain its natural texture, breathability, and character.
  • Natural materials for the home are chosen for their inherent strength and safety—solid wood, clay, stone, and glass that are left untreated or finished only with non-toxic sealants.
  • Craftsmanship with integrity reflects the maker’s care in every detail, resulting in pieces that carry positive purpose and provenance.

Together, these conscious choices create spaces that are not only beautiful but restorative — homes where every element is chosen with intention and actively contributes to your health, comfort, and peace of mind.

And just as important: what we leave out.

Choosing well also means choosing not to bring in what undermines our wellbeing.

  • Synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, and acrylic can trap heat, shed microplastics, and release chemicals that disrupt our hormones.
  • Plastic-based surfaces — even everyday items like cutting boards — can introduce microplastics into our food.
  • Non-organic natural materials may be grown with pesticides, treated with bleach or chemical dyes, or sealed with finishes that off-gas into the air you breathe.
  • Over-processing — from flame-retardant coatings to heavy-metal dyes — can strip a natural fiber of its benefits.

In a world overflowing with excess, organic living asks us to reconsider the way we consume, to simplify, and to embrace intentional choices. By choosing to leave out harmful chemicals and artificial materials, we create space for healthier alternatives.

Living consciously in practice:

  1. Start with small, intentional shifts — manageable changes that matter, rather than replacing everything at once.
  2. Swap synthetic fabrics for organic linens and wools where you can.
  3. Choose solid wood and natural fiber furnishings and materials.
  4. Opt for wood, glass, or stoneware over plastic in the kitchen.
  5. Seek out products made with fewer treatments and less processing.
  6. Let go of what no longer serves you, your health, your comfort, or your peace of mind.

A home shaped by conscious choice.

When we think less about achieving “perfection” and more about making conscious decisions, our spaces take on a deeper ease — becoming steady, restorative, and quietly uplifting.

Every choice we make, from the shirt we put on in the morning to the table we gather around at night, should align with how we want to feel and live.

It’s about embracing imperfection and authenticity, welcoming natural variation and the beauty found in the raw and the real. It’s about creating a space where you can slow down, reconnect, and truly live well.

At Grayson De Vere, we have curated our collections with this in mind — pieces chosen not only for their beauty, but for the way they support wellbeing through their materials, craftsmanship, and story. And for the practical purpose that they serve beyond their elevated aesthetic.

Because living organically isn’t about doing everything more perfectly. It’s about doing things more consciously—with thought, awareness and intention. For when we are present in choosing the elements which surround us, what they are made of, where they are from, and how they impact our health, we deepen our appreciation of how they serve us in creating a life filled with calmness, clarity, and connection.
