Love Dove Paper Weight/Door Stop - Grey

$75.00

Handmade and crafted with love, these one-of-a-kind homing pigeons are both handsome and versatile. Initially created as a permanent installation for the Texture Museum in Belgium, they were inspired by the homing pigeons used to send messages during WWI, some of which were captured in the building in which the museum now sits.

Beautiful and textural, they are filled with flax seeds and covered in Kvadrat woolen textiles in a variety of colors. And each carries a small rolled-up note on the side of its tail for sending secret messages. Whether used as a door stop, an adorable pet to sit atop your desk, or a creative way to leave a note for a special someone, this gift will become a cherished keepsake.

Thomas Eyck publishes and distributes unique and delightful contemporary design products, taking great care in the materials and production techniques used as well as the skill and creativity of the designers. 'I believe that the union of design and material and a careful process of product development – from the first idea until the ‘ finishing touch’ – are very important.’

At Thomas Eyck, they believe materials should be exciting and able to tell a story. His love of materials came from working at Royal Tichelaar Makkum for seven years. The clay for the ceramics was dug just a few hundred metres away from the factory. He became fascinated with how this virtually worthless raw material could be processed, molded, and painted, to emerge as a valuable product; how with good design and the right craftspeople, you can make something very special out of nothing. "With an item like that, I feel the energy and time that was invested in making it."
